Theresa Evelyn Clark

Description:
LOYALTY: Retribution (2)
This is her sense of justice, or more acutely, her inability to accept the notion that life just isn’t fair. She’s a bit of a soft touch in terms of the suffering of the innocent, but it isn’t just that she wants to make the hurt go away. She also want to beat the hell out of whatever caused it.
LOYALTY: Territory (2)
Don’t mess with her shit. This involves her friends, her house, or even that homeless person she took a liking to. Anything she’s mentally sorted as ‘hers’ she considers off limits to other people, and it’s very frustrating for her when they are meddled with.
PASSION: Autonomy (3)
Self determination and her ability to live the way she wants to. She’s never gotten along well with authority figures (even when she became one) and is afraid of something happening that will take away her control over her life. It also makes her somewhat commitment-phobic.

Bio:

AN APPROXIMATE TIME LINE: (presuming now is 2009)

1984: Born in
2002: Graduates highschool at age 18.
2003: Moves to LA and starts college.
2005: Leaves college in favour of going into police academy training.
2006: Graduates from academy, and starts as a beat cop.
2008: Has incident in which her powers express. She leaves the force due to a combination of not wanting to be discovered and her disgust with their treatment of magic-users.
Late 2008: Starts trying to see what she can remember about doing magic. Makes a decision and decides to try the P.I. thing with her intent on focusing on helping out sorcerors with nowhere else to go. Makes some contacts, and starts apprenticeship.
2009: (A few months ago) Gets her license and starts her own practice.

The Incident: Theresa was doing fairly routine cop duty with her partner when things got unexpectedly nasty with some dealers. The situation devolved into a brief shoot out, during which Theresa took a bullet in the chest. In the confusion, her partner didn’t notice immediately, and while she figured she just might die from it (and figured she was by how cold she felt) it got…better? She didn’t really know the hows or whys, but shortly after being knocked down the the pain, and the injury, had dissapeared. The culprits ran away, and by the time her partner noticed what had happened, the wound was completely gone.

With the vague sense that there was something strange about that, Theresa decided to keep it hidden, somewhat clumsily concealing the blood and the hole in her clothes. She suspects her partner may have very well seen enough to suggest her conditions, but he never spoke of it again. She’s not sure whether this was out of her respect for her decision or whether he just didn’t see enough to guess she was a mutant.

1. What is your real, birth name? What name do you use?
Theresa Clark. Er…Theresa Evelyn Clark?

Me:

Got any middle names? (Yes, half of the motivations for these comments is just fiddling with Wave ;) )

2. Do you have a nickname? What is it, and where did you get it?
There’s a few ways to shorten my name, so of course I’ve heard a bit of all of them over the years. Sometimes Terry. Sometime Reese or Risa. It really depends who’s talking to me, but odds are you’ll be stuck with ‘Theresa’ if you’re not a friend of mine.

3. What do you look like? (Include height, weight, hair, eyes, skin, apparent age, and distinguishing features)
A solid 5’10" and 160ish pounds. I’ve got long brown hair I take a healthy amount of pride in, and my eyes are hazel, leaning toward green. I like being in the sun, so my skin has a decent amount of tan, not that I’d ever want to lay in one of those tanning bed things. I look the same age I am, which is ambigiously mid-twenties. Recently it’s been pretty much impossible for me to put on weight. I’m stronger than I look, though I look pretty strong.

Appearance reflect her ethnicity, whatever that might be, at all? Also, you should totally find an actress picture for her or the like. Visuals make my brain easier.

Kitty and me:

Okay, searching for something. There! COBIE SMULDERS There’s a lot of shots of her looking all fancy, but the dressed down ones look the closest. Also, green eyes instead of blue, obviously.

4. How do you dress most of the time?
Tank tops with sweaters or something over top. Jacket, maybe an extra t-shirt too…I like having insulation. Jeans are a stand-by.

Me:

Does she keep the extra insulation on even when no one else is? When it is 40C and half the city is wandering around in bikinis if they don’t have to dress up more for work, she might stand out(notably, Los Angeles’ climate can vary extremely quickly, apparantly – its average temperatures aren’t much different than ours in the summer, but can spike). Of course, if it is quite hot(it is almost always sunny, hot or not, apart from the massive killer smog), the layers lose a lot of benefit, and can actually keep you cooler, strangely. Anyway, something to think about. Especially because it might incline you to alter the bit about her having a tan, if she’s covered up most of the time, eh? ;)

Kitty:

So she basically might just dress warmly all the time? That WOULD make sense. I just said layers because you’d mentioned layers yourself yesterday. So basically, the clothes would stay on most of the time but could also come off if it was layers? LOL I like how much about her character is concerned with clothing choices.

Me:

I think layers make a lot of sense if you’re worried about variability, because the layers become optional. Going from wearing a shirt, a sweater, and a jacket layered one moment, to tying stuff down and wandering around in a bikini the next. You can go from bundled up to looking like you’re going to the beach from one moment to the other just by shedding or adding them. I’m mostly just rambling though. Heh, yeah, layers are all about adaptability. :) Clothes are a big way in which we can communicate things visually, so they’re worth thinking about, I think. :)

5. How do you “dress up?”
White dress shirts, blazer jackets, that kind of thing. I’m not a good fan of wearing skirts, even though I like how they look. They’re a bit uncomfortable. So basically just black pant suits. Pin stripes maybe.

Me:

Has how you dressed changed at all since being a cop? Any habits you picked up as a cop that you’ve kept? On the flip side, any regulations you’re glad to be able to toss aside and embrace the freedom of? (Facial tattoos FTW!)

6. How do you “dress down?”
Those zip-up hoodie things? Yeah that. And some crappy jeans or cargo pants.

7. What do you wear when you go to sleep?
Underwear or less.

8. Do you wear any jewelry?
I have pierced ears, guess. Pendants sometimes.

9. In your opinion, what is your best feature?
I like my hair. It’s got some good natural highlights, and just enough wave.

10. What’s your real birth date?
My real one? What a daring question. June 24th 1984, no word of a lie.

Okay. I always hold off of dates because I’m never sure when the present day is supposed to be.

11. Where do you live? Describe it: Is it messy, neat, avant-garde, sparse, etc.?
A little apartment, which is thankfully somewhere near the proximity of down town. It’s on one of the upper floors of a building, and it has a nice view even if the size isn’t great.

Feel free to share if you have any notable neighbours or like. I presume if you have a live-in roommate or SO that’d get special mention.

12. Do you own a car? Describe it.
Yes. It’s…a car. Technically. I suspect it is run on love. It’s an old classic I’ve been driving since before I graduated. Though it’s not like I’m a big car person, so I am not sure about why it’s a classic or why this is anything more than a codeword for ‘old’.

My dad bought it for me when I was sixteen. If only I knew how to keep the damn thing in better shape.

I’ve been calling myself straight all these years, and so far no girl has proven me wrong. Why would I even need an explanation for that?

Kitty:

Not consciously, but she probably thinks about it in a not incredibly enlightened way.

2. Who was the first person you had sex with? When did it happen? What was it like? How well did it go?
My boy in high school. It was about half-way through grade twelve, on Valentines day. Hahaha…he wanted to summon that Arcon of Eroticism or whatever, but oddly enough it wasn’t available.

We made due.

3. Have you ever had a same-sex experience? Who with, what was it like, and how did it go?
I will not lie, I made out with this chick for an indecently long time at a bar once. In my defense, I was pretty horny, and drunk, and generally pissed off that this bartender I liked was ignoring me. From what I’ve heard, this is not exactly a super-gay thing to do.

4. What is your deepest, most well-hidden sexual fantasy? Would you ever try it?
Oh geez. Maybe it’s so well hidden, even I don’t know what it is. It really makes you think.

Seriously though, I can’t think of anything. I don’t have a lot in terms of deep dark sexual secrets. I always kind of wondered what it’d be like to be fighting someone and to somehow segue into sex? Like, I mean really punching and stuff. Does this shit actually happen in real life?

5. What was the wildest thing you’ve ever done, sexually? Who was it with and when did it happen?
Lets just say that the boy finally got the Erotic Arcon spell to work. ;) It was our Prom Night.

6. Is there any sexual activity that you enjoy and/or practice regularly that can be considered non-standard? (Bondage, Fantasy Play, etc.) Why do you like it?
Let’s say that lingerie for such activities comes in leather.

To be less subtle, this one guy told me I should consider a career as a dominatrix. I tried not to think about it too much. I guess I just like to take charge in the bedroom?

7. Is there any sexual activity that you will not, under any circumstances, do?
I will absolutely not cannibalize people for their sexual thrill. More truthfully, though, any kind of roleplaying or whatever that involves being demeaned is out of the question.

8. Do you currently have a lover? What is their name, and what is your relationship like? What are they like? Why are you attracted to them?
9. What is the perfect romantic date?
10. Describe the perfect romantic partner for you.
11. Do you ever want to get married and have children? When do you see this happening?
12. What is more important – sex or intimacy? Why?
13. What was your most recent relationship like? Who was it with? (Does not need to be sexual, merely romantic.)
14. What’s the worst thing you’ve done to someone you loved?
